Meteorology and Mathematics

lived and worked in Toronto, Canada
for one year

worked for a large insurance company
for three years in Belfast

|
worked
for the UK Meteorological Office for
five years including time as a weather
|

obtained a TEFL teaching qualification
|

moved to Zurich in November 2003
|
worked for some language schools
mostly teaching business English
|
|
taught
various
classes
(FCE/CAE and near-native speakers) at
the Kantonsschule Rämibühl (MNG) for
one year

in
2012 I successfully completed the Master
of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers
of Other Languages at the University of
London's Institute of Education;
|
|
am
currently working as an English
Immersion Coach at the cantonal schools
in Romanshorn and Winterthur (Büelrain)
supporting the teachers taking part in
the Immersion Programme
|
as well as supporting several other
cantonal schools on a consultancy basis
|
which just leaves a little time for
teaching privately, both students and
professionals
|
|
and correcting/proofreading
assignments, papers, various theses,
PhDs etc.
|
|
when
not working, I enjoy skiing,
paddle-boarding, tennis, generally
keeping fit and reading
