The Immersion Programme involves
certain school subjects
being taught in English rather than
German, with the purpose
of immersing the students in the
language. Such subjects include art,
biology, chemistry, computer science,
economics, geography, history,
mathematics, music, physics and sport.
I have been involved in this programme
for over 15 years in my role as an
English Immersion Coach. The main
purpose of my job is to support the
immersion teachers with all matters
relating to the English language. This
allows them to concentrate on teaching
their subject as effectively as
possible, rather than being distracted
by language issues.
Coming from a science background as
opposed to a language one, the
science teachers can benefit greatly
from my support as I speak their
language!
